(1) declare that the certificates granted in the said British possession shall be of the same force as if granted in the United Kingdom; (2) declare that all or any of the provisions of

the Merchant Shipping Acts which relate to passenger steamers' certificates shall either without modification or with such modifications as to His Majesty may seem necessary, apply

to the certificates granted in the said British

possession;

(3) impose such conditions and make such regulation

with respect to the certificates, and to the

use,

delivery and cancellation thereof, as to His Majesty may seem fit".

We notice that Passenger certificates issued in

the following British possessions are recognised in sccordance with above provisions:-

Bengal

Bombay

Mauritius

New South Wales

New Zealand

Queensland

South Australia

Tasmania

Victoria

and would suggest that application be made to the Home Authorities for a similar recognition of passenger certificates issued in Hongkong.
